Guess who just finished a certain very long novel! Man, I didn't even know what to do after I finished it, it felt like stepping outside of a very confusing house that I had been trapped in for the past three months. So I made this!
I really dig the fact that Infinite Jest has a recurring theme to its covers, but clouds are BORING! This book has so many things that need to be drawn, so I drew some and hopefully in a made up world people could go through the book and say "oh THERE'S that object that's on the front!" a bunch of times. IF YOU WANT and also have the latest edition that is 15 x 23.5 cm you are in luck because you can print out the downloaded version and tape it on to your book (or maybe the back of the cover if you like two covers and also secrets)
I wanted to draw a bunch of characters from the novel too, but DFW is really cool about very gradually releasing physical information about people (which is kind of frustrating for people who crave mental images...)
Maybe someday I will make a back side to this too (it will be drawings of all the subsidized years in order I think)
Totally love this. Would make an excellent official cover. It conveys the fragmented and multiple storylines so well and is also just really pleasing to the eyes.
AMAZING. I love the objects you chose, as being very important to the story but incomprehensible to those who haven't read the book-- like a little inside joke. Your diagonal themes were cool too.
You can thank me later. :3
